Pres. Weah Consoles the People of India Following The Tragedy Of At Least 288 Persons

The President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah, has sent a condolence message to the government and people of the Republic of India following the tragic death of at least 288 persons and injury of more than 1,000 others. 

   This sad and tragic train crash occurred near the Bahanaga Bazar Rail Station in Balasore District, Odisha State, Republic of India, on Friday, June 2, 2023. 

   According to a Foreign Ministry release, in his message to his Indian counterpart, Droupadi Murmu, President George Manneh Weah, on behalf of Liberia, extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of India, particularly the bereaved families, for the irreparable loss.  

   The Liberian leader stated that the Liberian people’s prayers and thoughts are with President Droupadi Murmu, the bereaved families and the resilient people of India during this difficult period of national distress and mourning.  

   President George Manneh Weah then wished for the injured people in the Balasore District train crash a speedy recovery.
