Pres. Weah Assures The World Of Credible Elections

His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah has reiterated his commitment to ensuring Liberia holds free, fair and transparent elections in October.

   President Weah made the statement when the Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Johan Forssell, paid him a courtesy visit on Friday, June 16, 2023.

   “My Administration will continue to uphold the tenets of democracy, including regular credible elections and freedom of speech,” President Weah underscored.

   The Liberian Leader thanked the government and people of Sweden for their support in helping to sustain peace in Liberia.

   “Liberia and Sweden have shared values in the areas of democracy, global peace and security, and international trade,” President Weah told the Swedish Minister.

   He said Liberia relations with the Nordic nation is strong and will continue to flourish as it is based on mutual respect.

   Earlier, Minister Johan Forssell thanked President Weah for his leadership, which he said has kept Liberia peaceful and stable. He hailed the Liberian government for the passage of the new Anti-Corruption Act by the National Legislature.

   “Sweden as a partner to Liberia will work with the President for the good of both nations in strengthening democracy, rule of law and the fight against corruption,” Minister Forssell.

   The Swedish official praised President Weah for his continued commitment to peace and security in Liberia and assuring the world of a credible and peaceful elections in October.

   The Swedish Minister was accompanied by the Nordic nations Ambassador to Liberia, Urban Sjostrom, while the Foreign Minister of Liberia, Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, also attended the meeting.
