Minister of Transport, Samuel Wlue

The Political Action Bureau for the Re-Election of President George Manneh Weah has described as unacceptable, unwarranted and undesirable recent allegation levied against Transport Minister, Samuel Wlue, by journalist Sekou Sheriff of Voice of Liberia radio.

“Sekou Sheriff a night ago made an allegation against Minister Wlue that borders on gay practice. Gay practice is prohibited under the laws of Liberia and anyone involved into such act must be named, shame and prosecuted in keeping with controlling laws,” a Political Action Bureau’s press release, signed by its Chairman, Morris A. Swen, stated.

“While we support the exposure of gay practitioners in Liberia, it is equally important that the appropriate evidence and/or proof be established so that those found culpable will face the full force of the law.

“Mr. Sekou Sheriff of Voice of Liberia is yet to state the identities of the would-be affected victims of Hon. Wlue,” the release added.

According to the release, “The allegation of gay practice meted against Hon. Samuel Wlue is farfetched and lacks every semblance of truth telling. Hon. Wlue has built his reputation over the years, and it is foolhardy on the part of anybody in the public to believe, without evidence, that he is a gay.

“The Political Action Bureau for the re-election of President George Manneh Weah would like to use this medium to state unequivocally that the President’s re-election is irreversible and accusing his appointees falsely is a recipe to turn the voting public against him, and this we detest to the core.

“Finally,” the release continued, “this is an open challenge to Mr. Sekou Sheriff to state the names of those he claimed were victimized by Hon. Wlue, including when they were victimized and where (location) they were victimized.

“The Political Action Bureau for the Re-Election of President George Manneh Weah is calling on Mr. Sekou Sheriff of Voice of Liberia to refrain from threatening the work environment of the Ministry of Transport in the name of exposing gay actors. What is more important is for Mr. Sheriff to do justice to his conscience by parading his evidence before state securities in order to pave the way for the prosecution of those who are found to be culpable.”
