The National Youth League of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has begun a robust door-to-door campaign in Montserrado County ahead of its September 7, 2023 official campaign launch.

Speaking during the initiative on August 28, 2023, the Youth Chairman, Emmanuel Mulbah Johnson, and executives said the door-to-door initiative commenced in electoral district #4 early Monday morning, with the aim of engaging voters on a personal level, swaying voters’ perceptions, raising awareness about the impending election, and providing voter education to the communities and electorate ahead of the polls in October.

Emmanuel Johnson said the campaign volunteers, including first-time voters, were deployed to visit households in varied zones, remotest communities and blocks to discuss President George Weah’s achievements and party policies, and distribute campaign materials.

“This strategy facilitated mutual interactions between the party leaders and residents, fostering a sense of personalized connection and trust,” he said.

According to him, the door-to-door political campaign globally plays a crucial role in reshaping voters’ opinion and mobilizing support from voters.

CDC Youth League actively engaged with residents in district #4 through door-to-door interactions, creating the environment for them to establish rapport with the residents, understand the needs of the communities and effectively convey their campaign message.

Johnson said the personal touch helped to build trust and credibility between leaders of the party and residents of the communities. “Positive feedback were received on the President’s initiatives for economic development and social welfare, such as infrastructure improvement, healthcare and educational policy reforms,” he added.

However, some constituents expressed concern about certain policy decisions and responsiveness to local needs which, according to him, highlights the significance of how different issues resonate with different segments of the population.

Chairman Johnson, alias Augustino Neto, said during the campaign interaction they had the opportunity to debunk misconceptions that President Weah poorly performed during his first term, thereby promoting accurate knowledge within the district.

“The statistical door-to-door data gathered in district #4, in combination with outcome of interviews conducted, suggests a resounding one-round victory for President Weah and the CDC government,” Johnson observed.
