“I Still Remain On Pres. Weah’s Campaign Team”; Sen. Snowe Clarifies Media Report
Bomi County Senator and a long-time friend to President George M. Weah, Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe, says he is still a ranking member of the campaign team of President George M. Weah amidst widespread media report that he has resigned from the President’s campaign team after the inclusion of political commentator and a talk show host, Henry Costa, on the team.
Senator Snowe told reporters on Capitol Hill Tuesday, October 31, 2023 that the report in the media that he has resigned from President Weah’s second-term campaign team is false and misleading. According to him, he was engaged on Monday by several media institutions about the report of his resignation from the President’s campaign team. Due to his engagement with major public hearings in the interest of the county, he said he could not answer calls or respond to text messages on the allegation, thus resulting into the Tuesday media engagement.
The Bomi County Senator revealed that President Weah remains his friend, and his decision to support his second-term bid is personal; therefore, it cannot be changed because of the inclusion of an individual on the team. He promised to campaign for President Weah across Bomi County during the run-off election, schedule for November 14.
When questioned if the inclusion of Costa on the Weah campaign team is a plus or minus, the Senator said he reserved all comments on the issue regarding Costa because it is the decision of the President to have him included, or not. He vowed to deploy another strategy that will enable the CDC to win more votes in the western region in the run-off election. He expressed confidence in the people of Bomi—that they will vote for Weah during the run-off election because of his development initiatives.
The Bomi County Senator at the same time promised to always listen to the people who elected him when it comes to decision-making. According to him, the interest of the people remains paramount, and he will ensure that the people’s interest are always protected. Snowe averred that he is not a CDCian; instead, he is a supporter of President Weah. He applauded citizens of Bomi for voting for President Weah during the first round of the election.
