The Movement with Integrity for National Development (MIND) has lauded the management of Global Tracking and Maritime Solution (GTMS) for the excellent services over the years, calling on President Joseph Nyumah Boakai to move with utmost diligence and urgency in acting on the second amendment of the GTMS-Liberia agreement.

In a release issued Tuesday, March 5, 2024, the national leadership of MIND said, “In view of the improved and secure container tracking services of the GTMS over the last five years, we extend congratulations to the management of the entity for its proficient, meticulous and public-driven services relative to the tracking and safe management of related information, which has led to improvement in the shipment of goods to the country and delivery to intended destinations.”

MIND averred that, until the activities of GTMS were authorized in Liberia, the process of shipping and container management was a very difficult process that was associated with risk. According to the group, since the operations of GTMS began, there has been a remarkable increase in the shipment of containerized goods to Liberia and an equal increase in the assessed fees by government. This in essence speaks volume of the raised public trust and respect for the dutifulness of GTMS in its handling of customers chattel and related information.

“MIND is certain that, unlike in the past when, due to poor handling of shipping manifest and related information which led to losses and increase in tracking cost as well as shippers preference for using alternative ports of entry from neighboring countries, the presence of GTMS in Liberia under the able and responsible General Management of Madam Aminata Bangura has significantly reduced these threats to shipping activities in Liberia, thus ensuring maximum security for public shipping activities and related information.

“While MIND gives deep concern to the reduced-cost processes of shipping activities under the current GTMS management, its prospects for increasing revenue for government when domestic resources is largely responsible for government budgetary activities is of vital importance and sets the solid basis for the continuity of the operations of the shipping tracking house in Liberia,” the MIND release stated.

“Consistently, as the entity is seeking a renewal of its highly vital activities in Liberia under the democratic leadership of H.E. Ambassador Joseph Nyuma Boakai, MIND calls on the President to note seriously the importance of the operations of the GTMS to safe shipping in Liberia and grant the extension it seeks.

“As MIND is devoted to national development with integrity, it’s our strongest position that the economic growth our country seeks will remain fleeting in the absence of a responsible container tracking service as GTMS. The Global Tracking Maritime Service has stood the test of difficult times and generated the courage to professionally keep Liberia as a number on safe destination for containerized goods shipping and other related services to Liberia.

“Conclusively, we reiterate our appreciation to the GTMS management under the stewardship of Madam Aminata Bangura as we remain strongly hopeful that the President, H.E. Ambassador Joseph Nyuma Boakai, will see the strong need to positively act upon the request for extension of operations for the GTMS. The professionalism is of world class and no responsible government can fail to grant such request,” the release added.
