–After Two Deadly Fire Incidents

The government, through its fire prevention arm, is taking measures to strengthen its capacity after two deadly fire incidents in which several lives were lost and properties destroyed.

The incident involving the tanker explosion in Bong County and the destruction of House Speaker J. Fonati Koffa’s residence in Paynesville bring back memories of sorrow and despair to many victims and their families.

At least eleven people reportedly died in forty-one fire incidents across the nation last year alone, making it the worst experience in decades.

Shocked by the gruesome episode, the new administration of the Liberia National Fires Service (LNFS) has reportedly contacted United States-based fire prevention firm and supplier of modern equipment to work with the entity in minimizing the threat of fire in the country.

According to report, the Liberia Fire Safety Supply will provide the Liberia National Fires Service (LNFS) with a wide range of expertise and services to prevent major fire escalations and hazards.

The Founder of the firm, Josephus Debblay, with vast work experience, said he stands ready to help the national fire service make Liberia safe from fire disasters.

Debblay noted that his company is well equipped with modern equipment, including smoke detectors and extinguishers, to boost fire prevention capability in the country.

He told the Hot Pepper that the firm wants a bilateral engagement with the Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS),  including compulsory installation of fire prevention equipment on residential and public buildings to enhance fire safety.
