Employees of various ministries and agencies are undergoing an intensive training at the Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf Ministerial Conference in Congo Town to actuate the Performance Management and Compliance System (PMCS).

Last week, President Joseph N. Boakai launched the PMCS, which seeks to strengthen accountability, monitor performance and drive results across government’s ministries, agencies and commissions in Liberia.

The training, which started on Monday, November 4, 2024, brought together employees from the National Housing Authority, Liberia Electricity Corporation, as well as employees of some ministries and agencies. The first batch of trainees is expected to undergo a one-week of training.

Speaking at the event, the Director of the Cabinet, Nathaniel Kwabo, said the training is part of efforts to make the PMCS more effective and provide all those responsible for its implementation the full understanding of the importance of the framework document.

Several of the participants spoke highly of the training, including Comfort Tumbey of the National Housing Authority, and representatives from the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) and Ministry of Finance.

In separate remarks, they admitted that the training has given them the opportunity to understand the importance of the PMCS and its use for accountability and transparency in government.

They vowed to take the knowledge obtained back to their various ministries and agencies, in order to train others and implement it so that President Boakai’s transparency and accountability agenda can be achieved.

As all eyes are on President Boakai’s administration to minimize corruption in government, he has begun the fight by establishing entities to ameliorate accountability and good governance nationwide.
