Several schools in Sinkor, Fiamah, Monrovia and Paynesville City, Montserrado County, were recipients of COVID-19 prevention materials donated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through the Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC).
Institutions benefiting from the Sinkor, Airfield and Fiamah areas were the Apostolic Foundation School, Nancy Findley Elementary Memorial School and the Alacah Preparatory Memorial School.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony at the Apostolic Foundation School, Alphonso Burgess thanked the IOC for the donation and said that the items will assist them in the COVID-19 prevention exercise, while at the Nancy Findley Elementary Memorial School and the Alacah Preparatory Memorial School Vivian Morgan and Arthur Bedell, Administrator and acting Principal, respectively, expressed thanks and appreciation to the IOC for the donations and hoped that it will regularly be done since the COVID-19 pandemic has had a long effect on the people of the world.
Items donated during the campaign were buckets, hand sanitizers, nose masks, temperature meters and other sanitary materials. The donations were made on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.
Thereafter, on March 3, 2021, the LNOC COVID-19 Awareness Campaign continued with visitations at the Covenant Nurturing Center, SD Cooper Road, Paynesville, Bible Way Mission School and the Bethesda Mission School, Paynesville, Robertsfield Highway. At the Covenant Nurturing Center, the Proprietress of the school, Adjovi Delores Mensah, similar to other administrators, appreciated and thanked the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through the Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC) for the COVID-19 Awareness Campaign as well as the donations received, and promised that the school will ensure that the items presented to them are wisely used in their endeavor to eradicate the pandemic.
For their part, the Acting Principal and Vice Principal of the Bible Way Mission School and the Bethesda Mission School lauded the efforts of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and its implemented partner, the Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC), for selecting them as beneficiaries of the COVID-19 prevention materials, and further stated that the thought by the IOC about their institutions will always be remembered. Both Administrators promised that the buckets, hand sanitizers, temperature meters, packs of noise masks and other sanitary materials will help their institutions greatly in their fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The presentations were made at these institutions on behalf of the IOC by Fred J.A. Pratt, Secretary General, Liberia National Olympic Committee, and Cllr. Sylvester D. Rennie, Vice President for Administration, LNOC.
Meanwhile, the last workshop for coaches and administrators of the various associations will take place at the auditorium of the Batch Resort, Marshall, Margibi County, on Saturday, March 6, 2021. Also, the distribution of COVID-19 materials to schools will continue next week, while the Anti-Doping Campaign will kick off on March 13, 2021, with three (3) sessions of the workshop taking place at the Apostolic Foundation School.
It can be recalled that the IOC COVID-19 Awareness Campaign kicked off on February 26, 2021, with donations being made and workshop conducted amongst coaches, administrators of the various federations and sports directors and coaches of ISSA.
