UK Gov’t Donates Equipment To FDA

The Forestry Development Authority (FDA) has received assorted office and field equipment from the UK government to enhance the work of the Legality Verification Department (LVD).

   The materials were donated by the SGS on behalf of the UK government on Thursday, June 26, 2025 to FDA management.

   Presenting the equipment at the FDA central office in Whein Town, Mount Barclay, SGS project Manager, Theodor Nnah, said the objective of the donation is to improve and enhance the performance of LVD. He stated that the Forestry Development Authority’s Legality Verification Department (LVD) is the main department when it comes to commercial activities in the logging sector of Liberia.

   The equipment donated are as follows: 13 desktop computers, 7 laptop computers, 4 printers, 20 antivirus users, Microsoft Office 2021, 20 user, Window 11 Pro, 20 users, Dropbox, 20 user, 1 set electronic toolkits, 1 Cyborg roam, 2 help desk phone, 1 18U server rack cabinet, 1 48port patch panel, 1 active directory server with window 19 server license, 2 wireless access point dual-band, 10 bundles PVC pipe big and small size assorted, 28 keystone wall jack, 2 packs screws, 2 boxes wall plug, 48 pitch cable (1meter), 48 patch cable (3meter), 1 drill watts, 10 drill bits (various sizes) and 6 packs of cable ties (various sizes).

    Nnah stated that SGS has been working with the Government of Liberia (GOL) through the FDA for more than ten years, and the collaboration has always been fruitful from the good working relationship between the two entities. SGS through the UK government was able to provide funding to purchase office and field equipment for the LVD.

   ‘’We have been able to get some equipment for LVD job, and we anticipate that those equipment will enhance FDA performance as well,” Nnah stated.

   Concluding his remark, Nnah stated that more office and field equipment are expected to arrive in the next two to four weeks.

   Receiving the items on behalf of the entity, the Deputy Managing Director for Conservation, Community and Carbon, Nora Bowier, expressed gratitude to SGS for the donation, noting that the equipment will help with the smooth operation of LVD, especially for workers who are assigned on the field.

   “LVD work is integrated related, and our integration in the field without those tools cannot be effective. We have trained men on the field who are doing checking of blocks and monitoring shipment in the timber yard during verification. These are the tools we need to be very effective on those activities in the field,” she stated.

   According to Bowier, other departments of FDA will get a share of the laptop along with the five regions.

   “We are so happy today for the equipment given to us by SGS through the UK government. These equipment provided for us today will be properly managed by the logistics office, and the distribution of those equipment will begin next week at the FDA central office for the effectiveness of LVD workers, especially those who are on the field,” Bowier stated.
