The Chief Executive Officer of Teach for Liberia, Alicia Ann Caesar, has emphasized the need to prioritize quality education in Liberia. She said providing quality education for Liberian children will go a long way in strengthening the capacity of the human resource development of the country.

Caesar made the assertion Thursday at Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Career Expo-2025, with the theme, “Empowering Minds; Skills for the Future”, held at the University of Liberia Capitol Hill campus.

She observed that Teach for Liberia is a leadership developer and non-governmental organization (NGO) accredited with the Ministry of Education as a private teacher training institute.

“We recruit the future leaders of Liberia. We ask them to serve or teach in the classroom for two years, and they are provided with stipend and training,” she added.

Caesar revealed that young Liberians who have obtained degrees in varied fields of studies are trained with professional teaching skills to teach in elementary schools in 10 counties in Liberia.

She indicated that Teach for Liberia has trained more than 40 young Liberians who are occupying and teaching some schools across the nation.

She explained that Teach for Liberia is intended to found alternative ways to train qualified teachers for Liberian children.

The Teach for Liberia boss said she believes that the children of Liberia desire quality education, and thus training qualified teachers and maintaining them in the classrooms should be prioritized.

Caesar emphasized that the teaching profession is unique, and those who want to teach should have the passion and professional training to be in the classroom.
