The Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) has ended a two-day Annualization Workshop designed to reinforce its Five-Year Strategic Plan covering 2025–2029.

Held at the Modern Hotel on the outskirts of Monrovia, the workshop brought together senior officers of the service to review strategic priorities and assess implementation progress. Participants were divided into working groups to critically examine existing targets and propose adjustments aimed at strengthening performance and accountability.

The exercise focused on aligning the LIS Strategic Plan with the broader development agenda of the Government of Liberia (GOL). Discussions emphasized harmonizing institutional objectives with national priorities, particularly in areas of border security, migration management, and institutional capacity building.

During the sessions, officers identified key implementation gaps, refined performance indicators, and set priority actions intended to enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness over the next five years.

Closing the workshop, LIS Commissioner General Elijah F. Rufus praised participants for their commitment and constructive engagement. He underscored the importance of teamwork and collective responsibility in achieving the goals of the service, emphasizing that the success of the 2025–2029 Strategic Plan depends on the dedication of all officers.

Also present at the closing ceremony was the LIS Deputy Commissioner for Administration, Nelsco Aleo Wolo, who reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to ensuring that the outcomes of the workshop are translated into measurable results.

The Annualization Workshop forms part of on-going institutional reforms aimed at strengthening the mandate of the LIS and enhancing its contribution to national development.
