The President of the Republic, Dr. George Manneh Weah, has reinstated Duannah Kamara as Managing Director of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC), with immediate effect.

Kamara and his deputy were suspended on June 10, 2021 by the Liberian Chief Executive following reports of disturbances and allegations of corruption at the entity.

Dr. Weah lifted Kamara’s suspension and reinstated him on Thursday, September 2, 2021 after the General Auditing Commission (GAC) cleared the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation boss of any wrongdoing following a month-long investigation.

President Weah has also appointed Bishop George Harris as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation.

In a related development, the re-instated Managing Director of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC), Duana Kamara, has praised President George Manneh Weah for reinstating him to the post against the wishes of his adversaries.

Kamara said the accusation of financial fraud brought against him for which the President suspended him has no iota of truth, but purely out of malice orchestrated by his enemies.

He however said the enemies were put to shame after the General Auditing Commission (GAC) nullified the allegation through transparent auditing techniques.

The reinstated Managing Director pointed out that the result of their findings encouraged President Weah to reinstate him, and praised the GAC for the courage and wisdom exercised during the course of its investigation, which he said afforded the public the opportunity to know the truth.

Speaking to the Hot Pepper over the weekend, Kamara extended thanks and appreciation to all water and sewer corporation employees for keeping the wheel of the agency turning during the period of his suspension.

He said he holds no employee responsible for his misfortune, and called on them to fully cooperate with his administration.
