Orange Liberia has announced the launch of its long-awaited international money transfer service. The new service, which was unveiled at a major press conference held at the Royal Grand Hotel on 15th Street, Sinkor, allows individuals in countries outside of Liberia to send money directly to Orange Money numbers.

The Senior Manager at Orange Money Liberia, Zaza Mulbah, expressed excitement about the launch of the Orange Money International Remittance Transfer service. He said that it would finally afford families abroad the convenience of being able to easily and securely send money to Liberia. He lamented, “Most of our customers go through struggles daily to receive money from their families, friends, and loved ones abroad. Most people have to endure long lines in packed banking halls to receive cash sent to them by their loved ones.” Mulbah explained that the launch of the Orange Money international transfer service would instantly solve these issues.

Through the Orange Money international transfer service, individuals abroad can use one of several platforms to send money to Liberia, which would instantly be received on the Orange Money number of the recipient. The platforms include MoneyGram, RIA, Smallworld Money transfer, Yawhii, Remitly and Share Money. Once the person abroad has made the transfer, the Orange Money customer in Liberia instantly receives a text message to alert him that funds have been received.

“With Orange Money remittances, our valuable customers can now avoid the hassle and risk by receiving their money directly on their Orange Money accounts. Orange cares about financial and digital inclusion and firmly supports the government’s aim for a cashless economy,” said Mulbah.

Mulbah highlighted that Orange customers simply needed to dial *144# to access the Orange Money account. With that, they could view their account balances, send money, make purchases for credits/data, or pay merchants as well as LEC, DSTV, and more. He also revealed that Orange customers could validate their registration status by dialing *144# and select option #3 to check their registration status.

Orange Liberia is working along with two International partners for the remittance of funds. The partners are BNB Transfer (used for transfers done through MoneyGram, RIA, BnB transfer, Small World Transfer, and Yahwii) and Remitly (Thunes).

“Beginning today until November 30th, senders can send money free of charge with partners (MoneyGram, RIA, Small World Money Transfer, Yawhii, and Share money),” Mulbah said.

On his part, the General Manager for BNB local office in Monrovia, David Ojuwalie, thanked Orange Money for being a collaborative partner in progress. He explained that the new service was simple, easy to use. He said that customers could conveniently and securely cash out their money all at once, use it to pay for products and services, or save it in their Orange Money account until they needed it.

The well attended and colorful launching event was attended by a host of Orange Money banking and financial partners, including but not limited to Access Bank, LBDI, UBA, Ecobank, and Global Bank. Other corporate guests in attendance included Dynamic Marketing, Goodwill Enterprise, OPD Bachir, United Brothers, and Lord Kelvin Investment.
