The Assistant Minister for Urban Affairs, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Abubakar Bah, on behalf of Liberia attended the 8th International Forum on Housing & Urban Finance (HUF 2021), held in Seoul, South Korea, on Wednesday, November 24, 2021.
Minister Bah joined his colleagues from around the world, both offline and online, to discuss the need for governments around the world to make cities more livable, green and sustainable, as the world prepares to live with the COVID-19 viral disease.
The one-day event was held under the theme, “Survival of the City: Living and Thriving in an Age of Isolation”.
He used the occasion to remind leaders around the world about the need to partner with Africa in seeking innovative ideas of adapting measures to ensure a more inclusive and responsive need to tackling the increasing housing demands by urban populations and making cities more inclusive, resilient and sustainable for all.
He called for collective actions from developed countries to ensure the reduction of urban slums in developing countries, which he said was largely due to rural to urban migration.
