Koijee Cautions Justice Ministry To Apply The Law On Lucas Richards
The Secretary General of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), Jefferson Koijee, has cautioned the Ministry of Justice not to jeopardize the future of the country on friendship basis, but instead apply the law and forget about friendship. Speaking at the press conference on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, Koijee said the Minister of Justice, Cllr. Frank Musah Dean, should do the necessary thing for the laws of the country to not be undermined. According to him, the law of Liberia must be applied to anyone who goes against it, irrespective of where they come from. “We can’t be seen as trash to others all the times,” he stated. The CDC Secretary General said, despite the relationship between Liberia and the United States, Lucas Richards must be held liable for his action and not blame it on America. He condemned the attack on a Liberian citizen by an American. “We want to inform the Justice Ministry that CDC is concerned about the life of every Liberian,” he observed. “We call for a speedy investigation into the attempted murder case involving an American National, Lucas Richards, and Jessica LIoyd. I will re-emphasize that this American citizen must face justice. Let his actions not be misinterpreted; he’s is an individual, despite our standing relationship with the US. “We in the CDC are far more concerned for each and everyone of our citizens, irrespective of which political party you belong. What happened to Jessica shouldn’t be taken lightly. We hope the police and the Justice Ministry will do due diligence to this case,” he maintained.
