Agriculture graduates undertake self-initiative

“The issue of improving the economy like other countries in the West African sub-region cannot be over-emphasized,” said the Agriculture Conduit For Transformation (ACTs) boss. ACTs is a Liberia-based local organization with operation in Lofa County, and has embarked on major farming activities in that part of the country.

Making the disclosure to the Hot Pepper was John Kucuyoiyoigee, the organization’s Executive Director, who stated that his organization was established to provide solutions to Liberia’s challenging economy.

According to him, the organization is made of graduates from the University of Liberia’s Agriculture College. Kucuyoiyoigee noted that the UL graduates deemed it necessary to embark on their own farming initiative as a way of creating self-employment, due to the lack of employment for graduates of universities in the country.

The organization’s boss informed this paper that currently they are planting up to 50,000 seedling of pepper, 40 kilo of beans and 120 kilo of peanut in Lofa County. He said their objective is to reduce the stress that business people go through daily.

Kucuyoiyoigee used this medium to appreciate the Ministry of Agriculture for the level of support and cooperation they have received so far. He also called on Liberians at home and abroad to get involved in farming initiatives in order to help boost the country’s economy. According to him, the way out of Liberia’s struggling economy is all hands on deck in transforming Liberia.
