The Association of Liberian Journalists in the America (ALJA) on Monday, February 19, 2024 donated a laptop (Gateway) and a digital voice recorder to the Hot Pepper and the Eyes of the Globe newspaper each.

Making the donation to the two institutions at the Rose Garden Hotel, ALJA’s representative, Charles Crawford, said the organization has seen the need to identify with the media outlets during these times when the Liberian media is challenged. “We thought it wise to galvanize resources to buy these equipment and identify with you while you go about giving our people adequate and balanced reportage,” Crawford noted.

Crawford underscored that ALJA was pleased to identify with the Liberian media, emphasizing that they hope that the items will be used for the intended purpose.

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, the Managing Editor of the Eyes of the Globe, Paul Bordoe, expressed thanks and appreciation to the entire membership of ALJA, especially Crawford who presented the items. Bordoe also extended appreciation to the Executive Director of the Center for Media Studies and Peace-Building (CEMESP), Malcolm W. Joseph, whom he described as instrumental in ensuring that media practitioners receive the necessary contacts and donations to smoothly carry out their work.

“Please convey our information to your association that these items will be used exactly for the intended purpose,” Bordoe stated.

The Hot Pepper was represented by its News Editor, Sheikh O. Jalloh, who also expressed thanks and appreciation to ALJA for the donation, and similarly vowed to use the items for the intended purpose.
