–As MOE Launches Center of Excellence for Educational Administration

The Ministry of Education has launched the “Center of Excellence for Educational Administration, Certification, Accreditation & Licensing”, a significant initiative aimed at improving the quality of education across Liberia. This center, established in accordance with the New Education Reform Act of 2011 (Section 6.1.1), ensures that all teachers are certified, qualified, and licensed, representing a crucial advancement in the nation’s educational framework.

The launch event took place at the Ministerial Complex in Congo Town on Friday, October 4, 2024, where Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah, the Minister of Education, emphasized the center’s vital role in enhancing classroom standards and the overall educational quality in Liberia. She described the establishment of the center as a historic milestone in realizing the objectives of the Education Reform Act, and acknowledged the Technical Working Group’s essential contributions to its implementation.

Fasam Howard Nyensuah, Assistant Minister for Early Childhood Education, shared her enthusiasm for the center’s potential to transform Liberia’s education sector. She highlighted the importance of prioritizing teacher certification, school accreditation, and on-going professional development to facilitate significant improvements and promote collaboration among educational stakeholders.

Key representatives from institutions such as USAID-ESSA, USAID-TECH, the Civil Service Agency, and the University of Liberia (UL) pledged their support for the Center of Excellence, reaffirming their commitment to advancing the teaching profession and ensuring high-quality education for all students in Liberia.

The event concluded with remarks from Clifford Konah, Assistant Minister for Teacher Education, who reiterated the ministry’s unwavering dedication to promoting educational excellence and fostering a brighter future for Liberia’s learners.
