The Political Leader of the Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE), Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr., has assured Liberians and the world of a free, fair, inclusive and credible election during the October 10, 2023 general and presidential polls.

Speaking after he signed the historic 2023 Farmington Declaration, which commits MOVEE to the promotion of peace and avoidance of conflict and violence during the 2023 general and presidential elections, Ambassador Kemayah stated that, in furtherance of President Weah’s stance for a globally recognized, free and credible electoral process in Liberia, he called on all Liberians to remain peaceful and avoid all acts of electoral violence. He further called for the deactivation of all forms of militarization of politics in Liberia.

The MOVEE Political Leader reiterated his stance for a free, fair, inclusive and credible elections when several MOVEE partisans welcomed and accompanied him and his wife at the Paynesville City Hall’s voters registration center to get registered to vote. He urged the jubilant and battle-crying partisans to do away with political militancy and revolutionary posture, which he said have the propensity of inviting political conflict and violence.

Speaking specifically to his partisans who greeted his presence at the Paynesville City Hall voter registration center, the MOVEE Political Leader, Ambassador Kemayah stated, “As I have always stated, I wish to assure all Liberians and the world that the 2023 general and presidential elections will be free, fair, inclusive and credible. The peace maintained in the last five (5) years under the leadership of His Excellency President George Manneh Weah cannot be undermined. All Liberians must ensure that the country’s peace and security are prioritized”.

The Foreign Affairs Minister also reiterated his call against the militarization of politics in Liberia. He said political militancy has the propensity of sparking out political conflict and electoral violence. He therefore frowned against the use of hardcore revolutionary posture and violence-provoking expressions.

The stance of the MOVEE Political Leader is in support of President Weah’s call for peace at the 2023 Farmington Declaration and the demilitarization of political activities in Liberia.

At the Farmington Declaration, where leaders of political parties, civil society organizations and other local and international stakeholders of Liberia assembled to signed the peace instrument, President Weah called for a free, fair, inclusive and credible election, and registered his opposition to political militancy in Liberia.
