ArcelorMittal Liberia has completed the repair and reinstallation of four 30-meter high mast lighting systems at its Buchanan pier.

The high mast lighting system, which is an International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) requirement, is used generally to enhance port security and operational lighting in the terminal to berth and sail vessels during the day and at night.

ArcelorMittal Liberia’s Port Operations Manager, Frank O. Anderson, said the system also illuminates large areas from a 30M heigh for storage, port, rail transportation, pedestrian use, and safety of maneuvering vessels, as well as for offloading of wagons and loading of vessels.

“The presence of the high mast will improve wide range of illumination and less power consumption of electrical power. You have fast turn-around times for ships and shore loading equipment at night,” Anderson said.

“Additionally, it will provide illumination during roadside maintenance at night, ensure effective rail track leaning, construction and equipment maintenance, while also increasing visibility and support the marine navigation,” he added.

A Liberian business, FREBENJA Group of Companies, was contracted to carry out the repair and reinstallation works. The company’s General Manager, Fred Kennedy, said he was proud that his company, which is a Liberian-owned, won the contract to implement the repairs and installation.

“I feel so much proud that as a Liberian contractor, we could be selected for this highly technical installation. ArcelorMittal Liberia is indeed here for Liberia and Liberians,” Kennedy said.

He said his company enjoys working with AML and will look forward for more partnerships in the future. “We will be more than happy for more opportunities, moving forward,” he stated.
