PRESIDENT BOAKAI, IN his keynote address during the launch of the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) System, described the e-GP System as a groundbreaking reform that will strengthen Liberia’s fight against corruption and modernize public procurement processes. He emphasized that the platform eliminates the need for physical visits to government agencies by allowing businesses to bid for government contracts online, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s effort to promote transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public procurement.

“WE VIEW THE launch of this platform as a major milestone in the fight against corruption. Evidently, corruption has stood as a stubborn menace that has for decades rocked the foundation of this nation and dissipated our drive for socio-economic development,” the President stated.

THE e-GP SYSTEM, which has already been introduced in six key government procuring entities, is designed to foster competition among private sector businesses while increasing efficiency and reducing opportunities for corrupt practices.

PRESIDENT BOAKAI LAUDED the enrolling of over 200 businesses in the system that are already actively participating in procurement tenders. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to good governance, pledging continued support to the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) and other integrity institutions to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the platform.

“THIS NEW DEVELOPMENT in public procurement is a plus to our deep-rooted ambition to create an enabling environment for competition and growth of private sector businesses,” the President noted, extending his gratitude to the World Bank and the African Development Bank (AfDB) for their instrumental role in supporting Liberia’s public procurement reform agenda. He called on all procuring entities within the government to fully embrace the system and ensure its proper utilization for maximum impact.

WITH THE OFFICIAL launch of the e-GP System, Liberia takes a bold step toward reinforcing accountability, efficiency, and transparency in government procurement, aligning with the administration’s broader vision to “Think Liberia, Love Liberia, and Build Liberia”.
