The President of the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY), Banica Stephanie Elliott, has unveiled their “Vote your Peace” project, an initiative designed to promote and inform peaceful participation among young voters in the October 10, 2023 general and presidential elections.

Speaking over the weekend in a press conference, President Elliott said the “Vote your Peace” initiative aims at empowering the youth to engage meaningfully in the electoral process and contribute to a peaceful and democratic future for Liberia.

According to her, the activities will highlight a wide range of civil engagement awareness, debates and youth commitment to peace pledge, among others.

She said the initiative will cut across all counties, with huge online campaigns as well. She disclosed that FLY is a staunch member of a national taskforce against election violence. The national taskforce, according to her, was founded to combat election violence in ensuring more peaceful and fair elections in the country.

Elliot thanked the US government and its flagship program, which she said continues to tap on the brilliance of young Liberians across the country.

“We frown against the constant use and manipulation of young people to cause violence, and look forward to issue-based engagements across all supporters and parties, and also condemn the incident between the ruling CDC and UP in district #9, as the matter is being investigated,” President Elliot stated.

She said, “Fly maintains her independence throughout and stands ready to support the cause of our youth agenda—to organize and coordinate the youth population in Liberia with the view of promoting unity of purpose, patriotism cooperation and tolerance—to promote the virtues of dedication to duty.”
