(MONROVIA, LIBERIA WEDNESDAY, JULY 1, 2020) –The Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) has received assorted medical supplies from the Joint Africa Research Group through its implementing partner, Africa Bio Enterprise, to enhance its fight against the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

This follows a recent donation from the United States Embassy through its offices of Defense Attache and Security Cooperation.

Receiving the donation on behalf of AFL, the Chief of Staff of the AFL, Major General Prince C. Johnson, III, praised the Joint Africa Research Group and its implementing partner for their goodwill, adding that the supplies will be used for the intended purpose.

The Chief of Staff of the AFL recounted the many contributions from international partners, stressing that their support to the AFL has enhanced its readiness capabilities in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The donated medical supplies, worth thousands of United States dollars, include Personal Protective Equipment, face shields, N95 Face masks, surgical masks and disinfectants.

Presenting the medical supplies on behalf of the Joint Africa Research Group and its partner, Col. Matthew Alden said the United States of America values its relationship with Liberia. He expressed gratitude for the level of partnership existing among the United States Army, other US organizations working in Africa and the AFL. According to Col. Matthew, “The Joint Africa Research Group has been working in Liberia since 2015.”

In a related development, Major General Prince C. Johnson, III, paid homage to the outgoing US Marine Attache, Major Eric Willis, for the services he rendered to the Armed Forces of Liberia during his two-year stay in Liberia. Major General Johnson described Major Willis as a dedicated and hardworking soldier who has contributed immensely to the success story of the Armed Forces of Liberia’s UN mission in the African States of Mali, Sudan and South Sudan.

In a brief remark, Major Willis thanked the High Command of the Armed Forces of Liberia for the honor bestowed upon him, adding that he will always miss the Armed Forces of Liberia.
