NACSUL Condemns Social Media Attack On Amb. Kemayah

Minister of Foreign Affairs-designate, Amb. Dee Maxwell Saah Kemayah

The National Civil Society Union of Liberia (NACSUL) has commends the President of the Republic Liberia, Dr. George Manneh Weah, for the recent nomination of the Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Dee Maxwell Saah Kemayah, as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

NACSUL says it  believes that the Nomination of Ambassador Kemayah to stir the affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is one of the wisest decisions, especially with the level of work and international connections Ambassador Kemayah has made since his appointment to the World Body.

The President of the National Civil Society Union of Liberia, Amos B.S. Kanneh, particularly recounted the numerous contributions of Ambassador Kemayah during his days at the Liberia Business Association (LIBA) as President, National Chairman of the Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE) and his short stay as Deputy Foreign Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs prior to his nomination as Permanent Representative to the United Nations, a position he currently serves.

NACSUL President Kanneh said while serving in these capacities, Ambassador Kemayah exhibited exemplary leadership with high level of integrity and commitment. He added that his nomination by President Weah to serve as Minister of Foreign Affairs was no mistake, as he has no doubt that Ambassador Kemayah will fully demonstrate the confidence reposed in him by the Liberian Leader.

Meanwhile the Liberian Civil Society Actor has described as mere jealousy and envy those criticizing the appointment of Ambassador Dee Maxwell Saah Kemayah to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on social media, and called on those behind the negative propaganda against one of Liberia’s finest sons to desist and join the newly appointed Foreign Minister to institute reform at not only the Ministry of Foreign Affairs but all Liberian embassies around the world.

“We need to do away with this crab mentality; where if it is not you it should not be anyone else,” Kanneh asserted.

Meanwhile, the President of the National Civil Society Union of Liberia is calling on the Liberian Senate, which is considered the House of Elders, to waste no time in confirming Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Kemayah as the next Foreign Minister based on his qualifications and long-time experiences in both the private and public sectors to begin the responsibility and task given to him by the President of the Republic of Liberia.

He said Ambassador Kemayah holds a master of arts degree in Development Studies (MADS), with credit; diploma in microfinance and community economic development, with first class honor (Suma Cum Laude); and a bachelor of arts (BA) degree in Microfinance and community economic development; with second class honor – upper division (Magna Cum Laude)–all from the Catholic-owned and run Uganda Martyrs University in Nkozi, Uganda, East Africa. He also holds a bachelor of science (B.Sc.) degree in mathematics from the University of Liberia (Class of 1989).     According to him, Ambassador Kemayah has many years of high-level work experience, spanning multiple institutions in the non-governmental organizations/civil society, private and public sectors, with a focus on public policy administration, diplomacy, governance, development, and humanity. He noted that his leadership has led to improved competencies in policy formulation and strategic planning and implementation across diverse institutions, including the public, private, non-governmental/civil society and the church.
