Grand Bassa County’s senatorial hopeful, Jayjay Baikpeh, has vowed to empower women and youth through loan scheme and vocational training.

Former Superintendent Baikpeh stated that five million Liberian dollars will be made available to provide loan for women in Grand Bassa County to strengthen their businesses, while a scholarship scheme will be made available for the youth to be trained vocationally.

He stated that empowering women and youth through a loan scheme and vocational training will go a long way in transforming the development of the county.

The senatorial candidate on the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) ticket for Grand Bassa County in the pending general and presidential elections, Baikpeh, made the statement over the weekend when he officially dedicated his campaign office in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, as the National Elections Commission (NEC) declared national campaign open for the October 10, 2023 election.

According to him, development and empowering the citizenry of Liberia is the heart-beat of President George Manneh Weah, and the re-election of President Weah and the various representatives of Grand Bassa County, including him as a senator, should be prioritized during the campaign to ensure that they are elected to continue the development projects across the county.

He noted that development has been lacking over the years in Grand Bassa County, but during President Weah’s administration over the past five years and half the county has experienced major transformation in its development drive.

The former superintendent urged the people Grand Bassa County not to make a mistake of not voting President Weah, who has been championing major development projects across the county and the country at large.

He indicated that the Liberian Leader is also their son and his mother was Bassa from Rivercess County, so they should not miss this opportunity to elect him the second time to further transform their county.

He emphasized that electing all representatives and a senator for Grand Bassa County on CDC’s tickets will put the county in a comfortable position to attract significant development and investments to further improve the  living standard of the people.

former Superintendent Baikpeh maintained that the opposition had the opportunity for 12 years, but they misused the time, and they cannot do anything for the Bassa people again.

The occasion was embraced by top officials of CDC, including Representative Mary M. Karwor and Representative Matthew F. Joe, along with a cross-section of the citizenry as well as supporters of CDC in Grand Bassa County.
