Appleton Fulfills Promise To Market Women
Former presidential candidate in the 2023 general and presidential elections and CEO of Appleton Foundation, Edward Appleton Jr., has fulfilled his promise to the market women at Plantain Field, Gobachop, Omega Market, and dedicated a shelter for the market women.
Speaking at the dedication ceremony on November 21, 2024, Edward W. Appleton Jr. underscored the need for citizens who have the means to rally their resources to help the marketers. He emphasized that it is incumbent on those with financial power to be reminded that marketers are in dire need of help in the country.
He vowed that his foundation would strive to ensure that the marketers’ needs are met, and admonished the marketers to remain steadfast in what they do. “Liberia is a great country, but our worth is not in the common people; so we as Liberians need to stand up now, especially those at the grassroots level,” he stated.
According to him, this initiative is to help President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s “ARREST Agenda” to provide help to the marketers, because this is just the first portion of the work and “I will do more to make my people happy”.
At the same time, the Superintendent of Omega Market Plantain Field, Helena Vaye Mulbah, expressed appreciation for the kind gesture of the Appleton Foundation and for Appleton coming to their aid.
Vaye stated that the Appleton Foundation is the only organization that has put smiles on their faces by coming to their aid during these difficult times.
Meanwhile, the wheelbarrow association at the Plantain Field Market has appealed to the CEO of the Appleton Foundation that they, too, need help in terms of office space for them, and more wheelbarrows to address financial issues.
The head of the Liberia Marketing Association also thanked the Appleton Foundation for dedicating the shelter for their marketers.
