During the National Thanksgiving Service held at Harvest Church in Congo Town, President Joseph N. Boakai, in a patriotic tone, told Liberians nationwide and worldwide to show profound love for country.

The “Thanksgiving Service” which is an annual event, brought together Liberians from the government, private sector, and the Christian community in unity and harmony.

The sermon, done in song, featured the choirs of Harvest International, Liberty Christian Center, and Effort Baptist Church.

In his jiffy remark, President Boakai said that Liberians are altruistic, open to all nationals, and fear God. He historicized Liberia, saying it was founded on worshiping and praising God, which made them to be civilized and humanitarian-inclined.

However, it seems like Liberians’ love for country and for one another is declining due to politics and personal interest, which have overshadowed patriotism.

As it stands, President Boakai urged all Liberians to recommit to love for country. He added that Liberians’ love for people and peace maintenance is well known worldwide.

The President thanked everyone who attended the program, and thanked God for the peaceful transfer of political power during the 2023 general and presidential elections.

In a related development, prayers were offered for the nation, the three branches of government and the President and his family.

The African-Americans who founded Liberia, under the heavy influence of the Americans, adopted this day and have continued to observe Thanksgiving as a gesture of being thankful to God, caring for the Liberian people, and praying for their well-being.
