The Assistant Minister for Legal Affairs, Ministry of Internal (MIA), Lusene Bility, has showered praise on Allah for providing them the opportunity to celebrate a successful Eid al-Adha Day, known in Liberia as Abraham Day.
He said that he was exceedingly elated for the celebration, and that the heavy downpour of rain that started during the night and continued during the day signified blessing.
Minister Bility spoke to scores of journalists from the print and electronic media following the deliverance of the Eid al-Adha Day Message by Sheikh Abubakar Sumaworo on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at the Heritage Mosque, Gurley Street.
He stated that they have been praying for peace to prevail in the country and for Allah to also bless President Joseph Nyema Boakai with wisdom and strength to enable him to diligently steer the affairs of the nation.
According to him, President Boakai will surely succeed predicated upon his desire to develop the country, but urged members of the National Legislature, the representatives of the people, and the Judiciary to continue their support to him, aimed at helping him to realize his dream for the country’s development.
Bility further noted that they also prayed for God to heal the land, including the sick people, as well for light perpetual to shine on the souls of the dead, along with the longevity of life and spiritual guidance.
He then encouraged the public to seek the true meaning of Islam, indicating that the misconduct of any individual should not be equated to the Islamic religion.
“Prophet Muhammad preached peace, obedience and humility as a strong pillar of Islam, so the Muslim faith is a decent religion,” he observed.
Commenting on the issue of granting holiday(s) for Muslims, the renowned Muslim maintained that no President of Liberia have the Constitutional rights to declare holiday, but that it falls within the scope of the National Legislature.
He urged Muslims in the country to keep praying so that one day they (legislators) will come to the realization of declaring holiday(s) for Muslims, and admonished them to remain law-abiding and patiently await the appropriate time.
