The Chief Executive Officer of the Bukonjadeh Group of Companies, Elton Johns, has urged Speaker Richard Koon to foster unity among members of the House of Representative to ensure the smooth processes of legislative function in government.

Johns stated that Speaker Koon, as a leader, should champion the course of reconciliation among former members of the majority and minority blocs to strengthen effective cooperation coordination for representatives to work together in maintaining peace and transforming the development of Liberia.

Bukonjadeh’s boss made the assertion over the weekend in Monrovia, as the impasse at the House of Representatives has ended through a democratic process.

He noted that for the past six months the impasse undermined the effective functioning of the government, which projected a negative image of the country in the international community.

According to him, Speaker Koon should now shoulder the courage to welcome members of the House of Representatives, including the former Speaker, J. Fonati Koffa, to unite them for the good of the nation and its people.

Johns underscored that the peace of Liberia is crucial for the development of the nation, and national leaders have major roles to play, “especially our lawmakers who are representing the people in the 55th Legislature to ensure that the peace and stability of Liberia are maintain”.

He said, unfortunately, the Joint Chamber of the Capitol Building got burned during the impasse at the House of Representatives, observing that during the 14 years of the Liberia Civil War the entire Capitol Building remained untouched.

He urged members of the House of Representatives to work closely to move the developmental agenda of the country forward. “Liberia is the only country we have and we cannot be deported from,” citing that every Liberian should preserve Liberia.

Meanwhile, the Bukonjadeh Group of Companies said it sadly regret the death of the Former First Lady, Nancy B. Doe, and sends its condolence to the Doe family.

However, the Bukonjadeh boss noted that some politicians want to politicize the death of First Lady Doe, and urged them to desist from such politics.

He explained that Liberians and the government have to ensure that “we have a befitting and dignified burial for Former First Lady Doe rather than seeking political attention”.
