Businessman Weagba Seeboe is calling on President George Manneh Weah to monitor the activities of the Ministry of Commerce and the National Port Authority (NPA) if he wants to succeed in his drive to revive the Liberian economy.
Seeboe said the two agencies are responsible for the downward trend of the economy, and must be under complete surveillance by the head of state to checkmate their operation.
He underscored that the Ministry of Commerce and the National Port Authority have turned their back on the President’s good intention to rid Liberia of poverty, only to engage in unscrupulous activities that tends to undermine the good intention.
Seeboe, who is also an outspoken rights activist, accused the two strategic government agencies of creating bureaucratic bottleneck to discourage trade from flourishing in the country.
He said the Ministry of Commerce is strangulating Liberian importers by denying them IPDs to import goods into the country, at the detriment of consumers, while the National Port Authority (NPA) has turned itself into a hustle ground for unscrupulous foreign investors.
