Captain Jerry Kollie: Liberia On Time Bomb!
A former soldier of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), Captain Jerry Kollie, has termed the current state of Liberia as a time bomb, due to what he calls uncontrollable lawlessness at all levels of the country.
Captain Kollie is therefore calling for a collective involvement of all sectors to advert the country from further degenerating into a chaotic era.
Speaking at the weekend in Paynesville, Jerry Kollie, also a former representative-candidate of district #2, Bong County, condemned what he described as the act of burglary recently carried out on the office of embattled Speaker, J. Fonati Koffa.
The “Majority Bloc’s” Committee on Rules, Order & Administration, headed by Representative James Kolleh, recently broke into embattled Speaker Koffa’s office on ground that Koffa had refused to turn the office over for use by “Majority Bloc” Speaker, Richard Nagbe Koon.
But Captain Jerry Kollie, who is also former Chairman of the disbanded Armed Forces of Liberia, described the action of his kinsman Kolleh as illegal and provocative.
Kollie is meanwhile calling on the Ministry of Justice, through the Liberia National Police (LNP), to treat Kolleh’s action as criminal and handle it with the severity it deserves.
He said he wants Representative Kolleh investigated and possibly charged for burglary and other crimes in line with the laws and statutes of the Republic, adding that failure on the part of the police to probe and charge Representative Kolleh and others involved in the burglary act would mean their action is backed by the Executive branch of government.
Captain Kollie further condemned Representative Kolleh’s behavior as shameful, and does not represent his constituents and, generally, the Kpelleh people, whom he said are respecters of law and order, constituted authority and tradition.
He further stated that the day chosen by Representative Kolleh and others, February 11 (Armed Forces Day), to carry out their action while the rest of the country celebrated one of the most important holidays in the Republic, further confirms their disrespect, not just for the rule of law, but also for the country and its people.
Jerry Kollie has also admonished Bong County’s district #7 Representative, Foday Fahnbulleh, to apologize and retract his recent statement allegedly terming Justice Yarmie Gbeissay’s comments as “liquor talk”.
Captain Kollie is at the same time calling on President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and other moral leaders of the country to intervene and find a solution to the current crisis at the Legislature, which has so far tainted the image of the government and the country as a nation that does not subscribe to the rule of law, which he said is dangerous to national security and discourages much-needed foreign investment.
