The Copyright Society of Liberia (COSOL) has announced the appointment of Doegbazee Kokulo Zaza Jr. as its new Executive Director, ushering in a new era of leadership and vision for the nation’s collective management organization.

    Zaza is a public administration, governance, and humanitarian executive, with more than two decades of senior-level leadership experience. His career spans across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America, where he has consistently strengthened national institutions, advanced public sector reforms, and modernized systems in security, immigration, justice, trade, and regulation. His track record of improving essential public services in complex and high-risk environments is widely recognized.

   A seasoned humanitarian and development leader, Zaza has directed multi-sector programs, managed country offices, and led large-scale emergency responses in fragile and conflict-affected contexts, including Afghanistan, Nigeria, Myanmar, Syria, Colombia, Bangladesh, Lebanon, and Liberia. He is celebrated for his strategic leadership, organizational restructuring, program quality assurance, and effective coordination across country, regional, and headquarters levels.

   Zaza brings extensive expertise in portfolio and grant management exceeding US$20 million, ensuring compliance with donor, legal, and regulatory requirements. His skills encompass emergency operations, institutional strengthening, localization and partnership development, donor engagement, and enterprise risk management. He is known for building high-performing teams and leading organizational change, he has represented institutions at the highest levels with governments, development partners, UN agencies, and senior stakeholders.

   His career includes key leadership roles such as Head of Mission/Officer-in-Charge (Afghanistan), Deputy General Coordinator (Syria), Area Program Manager (Nigeria), Deputy Director of Programs (Lebanon & Colombia), Project Social Specialist (Ministry of Commerce & Industry), Social Development Specialist (National Fisheries & Aquaculture Authority), and Capacity Building Coordinator (Conservation International).

    Zaza’s core competencies span Strategic Leadership & Public Sector Governance, Institutional Strengthening & Reform, Donor Engagement & Resource Mobilization, Emergency & Crisis Management, Multi-Sector Program Oversight, Localization & Partnership Development, Organizational Change Management, Compliance, Risk & Security Management, Advocacy & High-Level Representation.

   With his appointment, COSOL is poised to strengthen its role in safeguarding creative works and advancing Liberia’s cultural and intellectual property landscape. His leadership promises to elevate COSOL’s mission of protecting the economic rights of its members while promoting innovation and creativity across the nation.
