The Civil Society Network of Liberia (CSNL) has described as baseless and unfounded parading publications that the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) is investigating the Minister of Commerce & Industry, Magdalene Dagoseh. “The allegations that Minister Dagoseh is undergoing investigation for corruption is a fake publication intended to besmear her character and undermine her laudable gains at the Ministry,” CSNL said in a press release.
“The Civil Society Network of Liberia sees it as ludicrous and ridiculous calls by misguided individuals for Minister Magdalene Dagoseh to be investigated for corruption due to her meaningful developmental contributions in Grand Bassa County. The call is not only a politically motivated adventure intended to injure the character of Minister Dagoseh, but have the propensity to discourage officials of government from making investment or contributing to developmental initiatives in their county of nativity.
“The CSNL notes that its investigation has established that Minister Magdalene Dagoseh has received no communication from the LACC regarding any investigation. We have found no substantial evidence linking Minister Dagoseh to any corruption allegations as reported. The LACC is an independent anti-graft institution that serves as custodian of the assets information of all government officials, including Minister Magdalene Dagoseh, who has since made declaration of her assets. The LACC is fully aware that the use of unverified allegations against an individual as a basis for launching an investigation raises serious questions about the commission’s credibility and independence,” the release noted.
According to the release, “While the Civil Society Network of Liberia frowns against and detests corruption to the core, the institution will not support those who are bent on making unfounded claims against the characters of officials of government without investigation. The information that Minister Magdalene Dagoseh is being investigated by the LACC has no iota of fact or evidence. However, we call on Minister Dagoseh not to be distracted, but urge her to continue her genuine contributions to the growth and development of Liberia.”
