The Former Director General of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), Dr. Tolbert Nyenswah, has presented a book narrating the Ebola incidents in Liberia.

According to Dr. Nyenswah, who is the author of the book, entitled, “Collapse and Resiliency: The Inside Story of Liberia’s Unprecedented Response”, the book was presented Tuesday to the National Museum of the Ministry of Information, Culture Affairs and Tourism on Broad Street, Monrovia.

He underscored that the book narrates the structure of the incident management system (IMS) in combating the Ebola epidemic in Liberia. He pointed out that the book also narrates what actual happened during the Ebola time between 2014 and 2016, which killed more than 4,000 Liberians.

Dr. Nyenswah emphasized that Liberian people are a resilient people who have undergone several tragedies like the civil war, Ebola and COVID-19, but have overcome all of these conditions.

He explained that the book intends to inform the next generation of Liberians about the public health crisis that the nation has faced over the years, and can also be used for public health students at the university level.

Dr. Nyenswah disclosed that the book was launched in October 2023 in Washington, D.C., United States of America, at the Center for International Study, and is on the America Market but will be in Liberia soon. The author maintained that the Ebola epidemic brought Liberia to a standstill, with the economy suffering a breakdown, but Liberians are a resilient people. Meanwhile, the Director of the Liberian National Museum, Albert S. Markeh, said the presentation of the book to the museum will go a long way in educating and informing future generations about the 2014 Ebola epidemic outbreak.

He expressed thanks and appreciation to Dr. Nyenswah for presenting an Ebola book to the museum.
