The Federation of African Law Students (FALAS) is due to induct its newly elected officials, including its President-elect, Liberian law student, Siafa Bah Kemokai, II, in Monrovia on Friday, November 18, 2022.

FALAS’ President-elect Kemokai, a third-year student at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, University of Liberia, is the first Liberian elected to that position so far.

The ceremony is due to be held in the auditorium of the University of Liberia’s Capitol Hill campus. Local and international guests are expected to grace the occasion.

Kemokai and his team of leaders were elected on October 5, 2022, during FALAS Annual Conference, held in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Officials elected along with Kemokai include the vice president, who comes from Zimbabwe, the secretary, from Uganda, the deputy secretary, from Nigeria, and the director of Information, from South Africa.

Under the auspices of the University of Liberia and its Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, the induction ceremony will be held both in-person and virtually.

As a federation, Kemokai said, leaders from different regions of Africa will attend the program.

Kemokai said some will not attend the program in person due to their busy schedules, but will do goodwill messages virtually.

Talking about what his ascendancy as FALAS president means for the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, Kemokai explained that it showcases what the law school can do and how it can fight for its space among other schools in Africa and the world.

“This is one of the oldest law schools, so a leadership of such will mean a lot for our country,” he said.

He stated that the federation is to unify the African voice, and its quest is to provide guidance.
