Grand Bassa County’s district #5 Representative, Thomas A. Goshua, has pleaded with his colleagues on Capitol Hill to make budgetary allocation in the 2023 national budget for the expansion of Destiny Recovery Mental Rehabilitation Center.

The Grand Bassa legislator’s appeal to his colleagues was contained in a communication addressed to House Speaker, Dr. Bhofal Chambers, on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.

According to Representative Goshua, the Destiny Recovery is an organization involved with mental rehabilitation, and has been able to treat two hundred at-risk youths over the past five years. He told his colleagues that Destiny Recovery organization, located in Paynesville, has constructed a rehabilitation center that is used to accommodate disadvantaged youths and also provide vocational training.

The Destiny Recovery program’s projection for the expansion of its rehabilitation, according to Representative Goshua, is estimated at US$100,000. This amount, he said, will be used to purchase modern equipment for the center. He however seeks the indulgence of plenary to provide subsidy to the institution as part of the government’s plan to get at-risk youths out of the streets.

Following the reading of the communication, a motion was made by Grand Kru County’s district #1 Representative, Nathaniel Barhway, to have the institution invited before the full plenary upon their return from the census break.
