Highly placed sources have confirmed that the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Boima Kamara, has resigned, citing health issues.

According to unverified information, though Minister Kamara cited health reasons for his resignation, the cause for relinquishing the top job is due to the lack of confidence from President Joseph N. Boakai in his handling of the ministry.

Boima Kamara brings to two the number of ministers who have resigned from the Boakai-Koung administration within its first six months. During the early days of the administration, Rtd. Major General Prince C. Johnson III, now NSA Director, resigned from his position as Minister of Defense after a sustained protest by women believed to be wives and dependents of soldiers of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL).

Up to press time, there has not been any official confirmation and announcement from the Executive Mansion regarding Minister Kamara’s resignation.
