What may likely rock the very foundation of the ruling establishment that has started to show fear from many dimensions is the very scare tactics that brought them into being.

Apparently the recent endorsement of the first Partisan of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), Alexander Cummings, by former President Charles Taylor’s National Security Advisor, Lewis G. Brown, of the National Patriotic Party (NPP), and the hash reaction by President George Weah—threatening Brown’s life—has set the pace of the CDC scare.

Lewis Brown, an NPP stalwart and the only civilian to stage a two-week demonstration against the National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL) in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, which saw the reduction of the killings of innocent people and forcing the then NPFL leader, Charles Taylor, to have a negotiated settlement to the standoff, is again heading the December 17, 2022 political rally.

The rally, under the theme, “We Tiyah Suffering”, is gaining a wild range of interest and support from all spheres and walks of the capital and has taken a multi-partisan support and approach. The huge level of support that is being expressly supported by the masses for the December 17 rally is largely contingent on the fear that is being openly expressed by the hierarchy of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).

It is this expressed fear from the CDC’s so-called strong man, Mayor Jefferson Kojee, and the publicity thereof that has sent a tidal wave in the camp of the CDC that is currently engulfed by countless problems. The self-inflicted publicity by the expressed fear is what the opposition political parties are currently preying on.

On Wednesday, November 30, 2022, the newly “elected” Secretary General of the CDC and Mayor of Monrovia, Koijee, accused Lewis Brown of planning chaos on December 17. When he made the announcement, the rally had only a little publicity; however, since then the CDC hierarchy has shoulder the responsibility to publicize the event, with Koijee taking the publicity to the Borough of New Kru Town over the weekend.

According to Koijee, the December 17 rally will not be peaceful; instead, intended to undermine the peace of the country.

However, on Thursday, December 1, 2022, Lewis Brown provided the broad picture of the “We Tiyah Suffering” rally, planned for December 17, 2022 at the SKD Sports Complex. He disclosed that rally will be led by the CPP and will bring together parties, groups and individuals from all walks and stations of Liberian life seeking to express the suffering of the people of Liberia.

Brown underscored that Liberians are tired suffering, noting that the echoes are everywhere; as such, they have a duty to help them peacefully express this to the Weah administration, which they will happily do.

The former information minister pointed out that the upcoming rally is not for those who are not suffering. “We do not expect that they will like it or be happy that those who are tired suffering want to be heard. However, we expect that those with the duty to protect those who are tired suffering and wish to peacefully express it will faithfully and honorably do their jobs. We expect that they will protect all Liberians, especially on December 17,” he added.
