The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Workers Association (MoFAWA) has congratulated His Excellency Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr., Permanent Representative to the United Nations and former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Administration, on his nomination as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Liberia.

In a press statement signed by the Secretary General, Michael G. Monponwon, and approved by the President, Lahai A. Kiazolu, the group said, “We believe, as a workers association (MoFAWA), including the foreign mission, that the nomination of Ambassador Kemayah is in the best interest of the ministry. We are of the strongest conviction that Ambassador Kemayah will be able to make a genuine difference towards the anticipation of moving the ministry forward, owing to his astuteness and vast experience and the manner in which he has ably discharged the responsibilities of his current position as Liberia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Liberia to the United Nations and all its organs.

“Ambassador Kamayah has a high level of work experience across multiple institutions in non-governmental organizations, civil society, private sector as well as the public sector.”

MoFAWA maintained, “We wish the Minister-Designate, Ambassador Kemayah, the best, and we strongly believe that he will discharge his duties with innovative precision, humility and with deep love for the employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Moreover, we look forward to him as he vigorously pursues an agenda, informed by the pro-poor programs. Our key interest as a workers association is to see him succeed in seeking the welfare and wellbeing of all employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is paramount to realizing maximum output and equally speaks to the pro-poor agenda of improving the lives of the people of Liberia.

“We also believe that our new Minister-Designate will work closely with the senior management of the ministry to ensure that economic diplomacy is given greater priority in our international relations, since economic diplomacy is now a key factor in the development of contemporary international politics.”

The group added, “We strongly anticipate that working together decisively, and in the spirit of solidarity and unity in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we will defend the interests and common values of our ministry and country.

“This is the time to put the ministry first amongst equals and to open doors of opportunity for the employees; to restore hope and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the Foreign Affairs dream and reaffirm that ultimate truth that, out of many, we are the first ministry of the Republic of Liberia.”
