Since the construction of the 100-bedroom Emirates Hospital in western Liberia, Gbarpolu  County, the Government of Liberia and its partner, the United Arab Emirate (UAE), have received many commendations from citizens at home and abroad.

The latest commendation is from members of the Gbarpolu County Association in the Americas (GCAA).

According to the GCAA President, Teaker Harris, citizens of Gbarpolu County in the Americas are grateful to the Government of Liberia (GOL) and the UAE for the  construction of the hospital in the western region, particularly Gbarpolu County.

Harris stated that Gbarpolu County’s citizens in the  Americas stand ready to provide the hospital with equipments and other necessary assistance.

He made the statement on January 3, 2023 during an exclusive interview with the Hot Pepper.

Harris used the interview to call on well-meaning Liberians at home and abroad to join hands with the Government of Liberia (GOL) in providing the necessary equipments the hospital needs in order to serve its purpose.

At the same time, the President of the Gbarpolu County Association in the Americas (GCAA) stated that last year the group contributed over a thousand United State dollars for the registration of 50 Gbarpolu County students at the University of Liberia (UL) and US$12,000 for the provision of chairs for secondary schools in each district of the county.

Harris underscored that, in rural Liberia the issue of seat capacity for school-going children still remains a challenge, and it was predicated upon this gap that authorities of the association decided to embark on the provision of chairs for secondary schools as a key project in 2022.

According to the group President, an additional US$1,000 was raised by Gbarpolu County citizens in the Americas for support to Gbarpolu County’s teams participating in the National County Sports Meet.

He disclosed that they also provided financial support toward the operation of the county’s radio station, adding that the support was meant for reporters at the county station to buy smart phones in order to make their jobs easy.

He said more developmental plans are underway by GCAA members for 2023.

He used the medium to call on Gbarpolu County citizens at home to remain peaceful as the country heads toward elections come October.

Harris has meanwhile called on the Government of Liberia (GOL) and its partners to focus attention on roads leading to the hospital. According to him, road connectivity is paramount to the operationalization of the hospital.
