The National Fula Governor of Liberia, Alhaji Mamadou B. Sow, has initiated a drug awareness campaign to inform the society, including the Fula community, about the danger drugs pose to the wellbeing of the society.

According to Governor Sow, the use of drugs is not an escape; rather, a path to destruction that robs young people of their dreams, tears families apart, weakens communities, and endangers the future.

The Fula Governor emphasized that drugs only take away the dignity, health and destiny of a person, and warned Liberian youth not to allow anyone or anything to steal their future, as they are the strength of the nation.

He said Liberia is a country rich in culture, courage and potential, yet there is a growing threat that endangers the very foundation of its communities: the alarming rise of dangerous drugs—especially the deadly kush and other harmful substances that are destroying the lives and futures of the young people.

Governor Sow warned drug dealers and all those who profit from it to know that their actions are destroying the soul of the nation, and that the people of Liberia, together with the government, are rising to stop them. “We will not sit quietly while our children are poisoned for profit,” he stated.

He then expressed his deepest gratitude to President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Sr. and the people of Liberia for their unwavering stand against drugs. “Together, we must remain steadfast and united. We cannot, and we must not, remain silent while our youthful population is being poisoned for profit,” he noted.
