“Stop Running Gov’t Offices Like Private Farms”
–EFFL Issues Stern Warning To Heads Of Ministries And Agencies
The Economics Freedom Fighters of Liberia (EFFL) said they have gathered sufficient information and data from a number of reliable sources, indicating that the heads of state enterprises (SOEs) and ministries are operating the government as a sole proprietorship or their private farm, excluding deputies from essential decision-making processes.
“The EFFL would like to issue a stern warning to heads of ministries and agencies of government that the Liberian people didn’t sacrifice so much for them to run their offices like their private farms. Such unethical behavior undermines the principles of transparency, accountability, and democratic governance that our president desires from his government officials,” EFFL said in a press release.
“In just under six months of the President’s administration, we are gathering so much terrible leadership from government officials, and this is unacceptable by the best standard. We have placed our party, the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia (EFFL), on the line for this government to succeed, and we will not allow any heads of agencies or ministries to use their offices to damage the trust we have placed in His Excellency. Joseph Nyuma Boakai, President of the Republic of Liberia, to lead our people out of poverty.
“This country has suffered from a leadership deficit, and it’s time to correct our mistakes and move forward in unity. Additionally, heads of government agencies should understand that the government is built around the UP Alliance, with different profiles of individuals involved. The EFFL is committed to her one-year in-house dialogue with heads of government, but at the same time we will not allow these unethical behaviors to undermine the holistic performance of the government,” the EFFL maintained in the press statement.
“We are issuing this strong warning to all heads of entities and ministries. You must work collaboratively with your teams. The President has placed trust not only in you but also in your deputies. It is imperative that you stop any divisive or detrimental practices immediately.
“The showmanship by heads of government contrivance the President’s desire for a more cohesive and coordinated government, and such arrogance have no room in this government.
“The lack of trust and leakages of information from the government are basically due to the lack of teamwork at various government agencies of government.
“The people of Liberia should be served because they deserve better from their government. Before December of this year, the EFFL plans to call a meeting with the President to present permissible documents detailing some of the harmful practices within ministries and agencies,” the political party stated.
“We will be requesting the dismissal of those found guilty of such actions by the President. Our team of monitors across line ministries and agencies is collecting real-time data for submission to the President, as we committed to him during our meeting. We will not only support him in improving living conditions through economic policy, but we will also help him decisively defeat corruption and misuse of power.
“The Economics Freedom Fighters of Liberia (EFFL) and other political parties did not bring this government to power for those trusted by the President to head entities and ministries to undermine the ARREST dream.
“Many of the people misbehaving today were not present during the elections, when countless Liberians braved heavy rains and moved from corner to corner to ensure that this president was elected. Today, heads of government are showing disrespect to people who solidified the revolution in the name of being heads of agencies. We will not tolerate any behavior that threatens the progress we fought for.
“We are prepared to combat any enemies of progress within this government,” the group continued.
“Our people deserve better, and as a party, we are committed to fighting for their betterment. To those who pose a problem to this administration: be warned; we will take the necessary actions to ensure that you are removed from office.
“We urge you to uphold the principles of integrity, collaboration, respect for all members of your team, and even ordinary civil servants. Civil servants are equally important, and they should be respected.
“The future of our nation’s governance depends on the efforts of our civil servants and, as such, they too deserve respect. We urge all involved to cease these practices immediately and to ensure that governance is conducted with the highest level of integrity, discipline, inclusivity, and respect for the roles of all officials.
“The EFFL remains committed to fighting for economic justice and the equitable treatment of all citizens because the President has assured such rights and no government official will be permitted to act otherwise.”
