Grand Cape Mount Senator Taylor Takes Seat

The President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Albert T. Chie, has appointed Grand Cape Mount County Senator, Simeon B. Taylor, as Chairman on the Senate Committee on Land, Mines, Energy and Natural Resources.

    Pro-Tempore Chie, who is also the Senator of Grand Kru County, made the appointment Tuesday, August, 17, 2021 following the presentation of his certificate and credentials from the National Elections Commission (NEC) and his subsequent induction as Senator for Grand Cape Mount County.

   In his induction speech, the Grand Cape Mount County lawmaker thanked the people of the County for imposing their confidence in  him, amongst many other capable and qualified sons and daughters, to serve as their senator for the next nine years, and at the same time assured his people that he will live up to the trust reposed in him.

   In the same vein, Senator Taylor thanked former Senator Victor Varney Watson and his supporters for participating and accepting the election results, as a consequence of the Supreme Court’s ruling on Wednesday, August 11, 2021.

   Senator Simeon Taylor told the plenary of the Liberian Senate that, with the potential that Grand Cape Mount County has, it is worrisome to note that all sectors of the county, which include but not limited to education, health, roads, and other services, are very weak, if not dormant.

   The newly appointed Chairman of on  Mines and Energy and Natural Resources Committee in closing assured the people of Grand Cape mount County that  he stands  ready in collaboration with his colleagues, especially Cllr. Senator Varney G. Sherman, to ensure that these problems are addressed and relief brought to the citizenry.

   “In my mind, the review of past concessions in our county is paramount, in order to bring the concessions in line with our citizens’ expectations and the current-day realities.”
