The global and county headquarters construction efforts of the former ruling Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) continue to attract cash and kind contributions from partisans, organizations and individual Liberian citizens at home and abroad.

One of the many well-wishers and independent Liberians who is making cash and material contributions to the much-publicized headquarters construction project is a US-based eminent son of Grand Gedeh County, Othello Brown, whose Team Brown Movement has announced a cash contribution of US$1,000 (one thousand United States dollars) to the initiative.

The amount, which was made available on Saturday, October 18, on the official groundbreaking day, will be formally received by the CDC Zwedru chapter in a brief ceremony at TOP FM Radio Station in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County.

The Chief Patron of Team Brown, Othello Brown, said the donation is his organization’s way of identifying with the CDC in what he termed as a new beginning of attaching infrastructural value to Liberia’s democratic competition, an example he hopes other political parties and democratic institutions would emulate for the betterment of the country’s political and economic environment.

“I’m an independent actor who is working with so many wonderful compatriots to improve our democratic culture and support our country’s, economy through social justice advocacy and job creation through many avenues, one of which is what the CDC has embarked upon. Building a headquarters is not just a political project; it is a significant move toward the development of our country because so many people, particularly our young folks and those with different expertise, will get jobs through these nationwide construction projects,” Brown noted.

The donation has been welcomed by partisans of the CDC and residents of district #1 (Tcien), Grand Gedeh County, where Team Brown has since initiated a mission to create extensive awareness throughout the fifty-six communities of the district (Zwedru Metropolis), providing different kinds of assistance and making significant interventions with no political conditions or requirements attached.

The second phase of Team Brown’s community development initiatives kicks off early next year, focusing on healthcare, empowerment of women and youth development organizations, amongst others.

Meanwhile, Brown has challenged residents of district #1 (Tcien) to place the interest of their district above individual and political party interests and work harder for a secure, peaceful and cohesive environment, without which there can be no development.
