In an effort to mitigate illiteracy among females, Hope China International Academy (HOICA) on Thursday, September 15, 2022 launched over four hundreds scholarship for underprivileged and disadvantaged female students across the country.

The program was launched as a means of providing quality and free education for underprivileged females who want to achieve academic excellence but unable due to financial difficulties.

The program also aimed at motivating females and single parents who had lost hope in sending their children to school due to the hike in tuition and other fees across the country.

Officially launching the female scholarship program, the Founder and Proprietor of Hope China International Academy, Rancy T. Gorwor, said there is a need for females who gave birth early while growing up due to limited parental guidance to be motivated to go back to school and make the difference in the society, because there is still future for them.

“We launched this program particularly for females. Despite the inclusion of men, we want to make sure that our sisters and children who born babies by chance can be encouraged to change the status quo by going back to school. There are many children who became parents before time, but want to continue their education. However, there is no money for them to pursue their education because family and society have despised them for their mistakes, but this scholarship is there to restore hope to them,” Gorwor pointed out.

He noted that, if females are encouraged, motivated and provide the opportunity to explore their potential, they can do better.

Gorwor disclosed that the scholarship is free for all students who are interested in being in school again. He said even if they have children who are also in school, they all can attend together, adding that their objective is to eradicate the illiteracy rate among females.

According to him, parents most time discriminate among their children. “When the boys make mistake, we can still send them to school; but when it’s in the case of our girls, we force them into early marriage. We can leave them alone for them to take care of themselves, and this is bad. For the fact a child makes mistakes, it does not mean that the child cannot do nothing good in life,” he indicated.

He urged single parents and females to take advantage of the opportunity and forget about what the people will say. He urged them to fight for their destiny, noting that everything is possible once they are willing and ready.

Hope China International Academy is located on A.B. Tolbert Road, Paynesville. The school, over the pass time, has provided quality and affordable education for all Liberian children, in an effort to build a fruitful generation.
