House Foreign Affairs Committee Hails US Gov’t For Extending Visa Validity

The House Committee on Foreign Affairs has welcome the unprecedented decision by the United States Government to revise its visa reciprocity schedule for Liberian applicants

   The committee said the move reflects the growing confidence and cooperation between Liberia and the United States of America, expressing optimism that it will encourage greater mobility and economic engagement between the two countries.

   The Foreign Affair Committee Chairman, Nimba County Representative Nehker Gaye, praised Liberia long-standing allied for the positive move, reaffirming the House commitment to fostering constructive diplomatic relation.

   Representative Gaye emphasized further that the National Legislature remains a strong partner in advancing Liberia’s foreign policy goals and deepening collaboration with the United States of America.

  In a surprised move recently, the United States Government made pronouncement granting Liberian applicants the right to multiple entry visas valid for three years with no reciprocity fees.

   Speaking to the Hot Pepper on Capitol Hill Thursday, Representative Gaye attributed the achievement to the sustained advocacy led by Montserrado County electoral district #7 Representative, Emmanuel Dahn, on the issue.

   He recalled that Representative Dahn made repeated calls on the United States Government through its embassy near Monrovia for the review of Liberia’s visa reciprocity term to reflect the strong and historic bilateral ties between the two countries.

   The Nimba Representative lauded Representative Dahn for his stand, emphasizing that the outcome marks a major step towards strengthening people-to-people ties and advancing opportunities for business, tourism and cultural exchange.

   The Chair on Foreign Affairs Committee pointed out that United States and Liberia share deep and enduring relationship rooted in mutual respect and cooperation.
