Sinoe County Senator-elect, Crayton Duncan, has said the county’s authority, including the administration of the Sinoe Community College, must be compelled to submit to a comprehensive audit.

The newly elected and certificated winner of the Sinoe County 2023 senatorial election said social and economic development in Sinoe are stunted due to what he called “rampant improprieties”.

“Instead of them giving to the citizens through social and economic development, the county’s authorities are stealing from the citizens,” Duncan said to scores of Sinoeans recently at his residence in Monrovia, after receiving his certificate from the National Elections Commission (NEC).

According to him, he entered politics to give to the people of his constituency, and not to steal from them by any means or in any manner.

Duncan said he is appalled by the current state of the southeastern county’s community college, despite enormous financial and material support, including a sum of US$600,000 it received in recent years.

“I stand against corruption, and therefore all administrators of the community college must be audited to give account of monies and other resources they received to improve the standard of the college,” he said.

The Sinoe Community College, Senator Duncan recommended, must be relocated from the Sinoe Multilateral High building to its own building.

He thanked the people of Sinoe, many of whom he said did not know him well because of his long stay abroad, but yet have built confidence in him to represent them at the National Legislature.

He assured the people of Sinoe that before he ends his nine-year term in the Senate feeder and farm-to-market roads in the county would have been paved.

“I walked long distances in the county during the recent political campaigns because of the lack of roads, but there will be no more walking in Sinoe at the end of my term in the Senate,” he noted.

Before he entered politics, the Senator-elect worked at the Central Bank of Liberia, under former Bank Governor, Mills Jones, during the regime of former President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.

He had earlier represented a district in Sinoe in the lower House of the Legislature before his subsequent election to the Senate.
