The Association of Liberia Human Resource Professionals (ALHRP) has officially held its first election since its establishment, electing its first leadership team. Co-founder Jonah Soe Kotee was overwhelmingly voted for as the first elected President, signaling a new chapter in the professionalization of human resource management in Liberia.

Joining President Kotee are Roosevelt Richards, Vice President for Training and Development; Rev. Grace Martin-Nyanway, Vice President for Government and Legal Affairs; Rev. Arthur Gboto, Vice President for Grievance and Ethics; Sandra Ajoin Atem, Vice President for International Affairs; D. Dempster Zawolo, Vice President for Finance and Administration; and Alex Jeff Rynes, Vice President for Marketing, Branding, and Communication.

In his remarks after the election’s results were announced, President Kotee called for unity and reconciliation among all HR professionals in Liberia. He reaffirmed his commitment to inclusivity and collaboration.

“This is not the time for division. It is a time to unite, to reconcile, and to work together as professionals committed to excellence,” he stated. “We are stronger when we are united.”

He emphasized that ALHRP, under his leadership, will work with every HR practitioner, regardless of background or affiliation, to give the profession the national recognition and credibility it deserves.

President Kotee also pledged to foster strong partnerships with key institutions, including the Ministry of Labor, Civil Service Agency (CSA), Liberia Chamber of Commerce (LCC), and other national stakeholders, to ensure that the human resource profession plays a leading role in national workforce development.
Meanwhile, Team Jonah has introduced a 7-point transformational agenda, aimed at making ALHRP a high-impact, globally connected institution. They are financial transparency—independent audits and quarterly disclosures; national and international partnership; job placement—structured employment programs for members; digital upgrade—improved website with member services, HR tools, and job boards; credentialing—Liberia’s first HR certification program; chartered status—legal chartering of ALHRP through legislative advocacy; biannual training—mandatory training programs with credit hours; and legal & government affairs—stronger lobbying for HR policy and funding.

“We are not contesting for a title—we are contesting to finish what we started. This is about continuity, stability, and transformational leadership that has already delivered,” said President Kotee.

He added, “We didn’t wait for recognition to serve. We showed up. And now, we will finish strong. Let’s move ALHRP from a functional body to a formidable force—an institution that trains, certifies, and leads national workforce transformation.”

As ALHRP enters this new era, the newly elected leadership says it is committed to elevating the HR profession, strengthening public-private partnerships, and ensuring that Liberia’s workforce is equipped to compete and thrive on the global stage.
