The adage, “Give a man his flowers while he is alive and not when he is dead,” was fulfilled by the Jonahsa Foundation, which honored several individuals for being impactful to the society.

Jonahsa Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in 2015 to cater to the needs of underprivileged Liberian kids in the field of education, agriculture, mental health, and so on.

The honorees include Edwin B. Charles, Peter Wonokay, Fightnah B. Davis and Dr. Solomon V. Harris.

In a grateful tone, the Founder and President of the Foundation, Jonah Barcon, historicized the honorees’ assistance rendered to him, saying they did not shy away from him in his difficult time.

“When l was down without anything, these people helped me a lot,” Barcon noted, recounting their past services during his trial.

In continuation, he said the sole purpose of the honoring ceremony was to appreciate those who are not in government but continue to make impact on the lives of those in the society.

Barcon used the occasion to thank Dr. Moore, the Spokesperson of the Foundation, for his selfless support to the Foundation and the children of Liberia.

The event, which was held at the head office of the Foundation on July 22, 2023, was witnessed by several individuals from the civil society, government and the media.

In separate remarks, the honorees lauded the work of the foundation under Barcon’s stewardship, describing him as an icon of true humanitarianism.

They stated that their supports to the foundation and the people of Liberia remain unchanged.

The honorees said that they encountered Barcon in Liberia, and from that time onward their relationship with him keeps cementing.

“All along we did not see this coming. We’re honored by this historic recognition. I personally didn’t know l was making impact on our country until today,” Peter Wonokay, one of the honorees, observed.
